The Story

A Greek family.
A small Minnesota town.

In 1986, Pete and Aristea Kontinakis took over a little steakhouse on 3rd Street in Farmington. They were Greek immigrants chasing the American dream — and they did it the only way they knew how: hand-grilling every steak in front of their customers, treating strangers like family, and never taking a shortcut.

Pete passed in 2012. But Aristea and their daughters never let the grill go cold. Forty years later, the same family is still here, still grilling, still proud.

Farmington Steakhouse is one of those places that feels like a hometown secret. The people are genuinely kind, the whole setup is simple to navigate, and yes — you grab a cafeteria tray like you’re back in school but about to make a much better life choice. The food is cheap, the steaks are delicious…

We love this place. Grew up going here in Farmington. 30 years later, now I live out of state and we still make it a point to come every time I’m in town. Food is on point and service is always wonderful. Can’t pass on this family-owned business with delicious gyros!
